ORIGIN – Dan Brown
Sorry Dan Brown aber Origin ist eine Mühsal ohne Gleichen. Man quält sich durch die zähe Masse langatmiger Charakterbeschreibungen, die Rückblicke dramatischer Ereignisse und wundert sich ununterbrochen warum der spanische Thronfolger plötzlich Julian heißt.
Normalerweise lese ich Dan Brown in einem Zug. Bei diesem Buch musste ich mich zwingen weiterzulesen. Bereits im Frühjahr gekauft, lag es sogar bis vor kurzem noch im Regal, Ganz untypisch für mich. Nach ungefähr 200 Seiten konnte ich mich nicht mehr überwinden und legte es damals beiseite. Bis ich aus Mangel an anderer Lektüre wieder darauf aufmerksam wurde. Und dieses Mal durch hielt ich durch.
Bis zum bitteren Ende
Das kann doch nicht Dan Brown´s Ernst sein, dass er sich das verkaufen traut, geht es einem durch den Kopf. Wo sind die spannenden Schnitzeljagden in denen man gleichzeitig allerlei Verschwörungstheorien und Hochspannung pur erfahren durfte. Bis fast ganz zum Schluss plätschert es so dahin. Irgendwann kommt die Geschichte dann doch in die Gänge und lässt einen Funken erglimmen.
Aber nur kurz. Nach gefühlten 100 Jahren bekommt man eeendlich die Auflösung präsentiert und ist …. ein kleines bisschen enttäuscht. Darauf hätte man selbst auch kommen können. Meine Tochter hat sogar schon ein Buch geschrieben über diese Zukunft, wie sie uns Dan Brown hier als neueste Sensation verkaufen will.
War da eine Liebesgeschichte dabei?
Beim Abspann der Hinweis, dass Robert Langdon sich eventuell verliebt hätte, hab ich da etwas nicht mitgekriegt? Wobei ja Lovestorys nicht unbedingt das Metier von Dan Brown sind. Das sollte er besser bleiben lassen. Außerdem war die Protagonistin die Verlobte des Thronfolgers, das hätte sowieso zu diplomatischen Querelen geführt.
Es ist schade um die Langdon Serie. Es drängt sich der Verdacht auf, dass Dan Brown in Zugzwang war, endlich wieder ein Buch abgeben zu müssen. Blöd, wenn man unter Vertrag steht. Das ist aber nur eine Vermutung von mir. Ich hoffe, dass er sich für die nächste Geschichte Zeit lässt und wieder in die „Sakrileg“ Form zurückfindet.
Ich werde trotzdem weiterhin alle Bücher von Dan Brown lesen, Origin war sicher nur ein Ausrutscher. Mehr als 3 von 5 Bücherkatzen kann ich dafür aber leider nicht vergeben 🙁
